Gyudon (Japanese beef rice bowl)
Thinly sliced beef and sweet onion simmered in a savoury soy-mirin broth over rice.

Ingredients
- 150 g Sirloin steak
- ¾ onion Onion
- 75 g Jasmine rice
- 1 tbsp Tamari (gluten-free)
- 14 ml Mirin (rice cooking wine)
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 100 ml Vegetable stock
- 10 g Spring onions
Method
- Cook the rice according to packet instructions.
- Simmer the onion in the stock with tamari, mirin and sugar for 5 minutes until softened.
- Add the beef slices and simmer for 2-3 minutes until just cooked through.
- Spoon the beef, onion and broth over the rice.
- Scatter with spring onion to serve.
