Goan fish curry
Tangy coconut fish curry with garlic and a souring hit of tamarind, the everyday taste of Goa.

Ingredients
- 180 g White fish fillets
- 30 g Fresh coconut
- ½ onion Onion
- 2 cloves Garlic
- ¾ tsp Tamarind paste
- 55 g Basmati rice
- ½ tbsp Sunflower oil
- ¼ tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- 4 g Coriander
- ¼ tsp Salt
Method
- Blend the coconut, onion, garlic, chilli powder and turmeric with a little water into a smooth paste.
- Heat the oil and fry the paste for 6-8 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the tamarind pulp and a cup and a half of water; bring to a simmer.
- Slide in the fish, cover and simmer gently for 10 minutes until just cooked.
- Rinse the rice and simmer in twice its volume of water for 15 minutes; serve the curry over the rice with coriander.
