Steamed, crumbled chana dal tossed with stir-fried green beans, a protein-rich no-onion classic.

Ingredients
- 50 g Basmati rice
- 50 g Chana dal
- 150 g Green beans
- ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 g Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Asafoetida (hing)
- ½ tbsp Coconut oil
- ¼ tsp Turmeric
- ¼ tsp Salt
Method
- Cook the rice until tender; set aside.
- Soak the chana dal for 2 hours, grind coarsely with turmeric, and steam in a greased dish for 10 minutes until firm.
- Crumble the steamed dal with a fork.
- Heat the coconut oil, splutter mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida, then stir-fry the green beans for 6 minutes.
- Add the crumbled dal, toss well for 3 minutes, season with salt and serve with the rice.
